Tim Lewis
Yoga Teacher, incorporating mindfulness (CMI Level 1)
High Wycombe I Buckinghamshire
Having completed the CMI Level 1 Teacher Training (November 2016), I am integrating mindfulness into my yoga teaching and now have the opportunity to explore this further.
My background is in hospitality specialising in finance. I qualified as a yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2007 and teach a weekly class in High Wycombe as well as regular one to one’s. During my mindfulness training, I received ample references that I now have the opportunity to explore. A work in progress.
Mindfulness improves the quality of life – whether by relieving stress, depression and anxiety, it can also increase the capacity for resilience.
It is also empowering to the recipient as it equips them with the tools to enhance the quality of life, living in the present with enjoyment and awareness as well as becoming aware of the past effect on their lives.
What is the importance of professional guidelines such as the UK Network’s Good practice Guidelines to you and your teaching?
Professional guidelines are an intrinsic part of any discipline to ensure that teachers abide by these principles.
Following the guidelines assures a consistency in my teachings and those offered by fellow teachers with respect to quality, safety and care of those we teach.
