Training in Mindfulness
CMI are suspending our Teacher Training Programme while we overhaul our programme to ensure that our work acknowledges and responds to the interconnected climate, political, economic and social crises. We work in the service of clear strategies and actions that overcome injustices and inequalities and foster community. We seek to understand individuals as part of communities and society, not as separate or atomised.
We leave our old pathway structure here for an appreciation of the stages and levels of training we encourage. It is our hope that we can move away from private mindfulness provision and 8-week courses towards community-embedded strategies.
CMI Training is designed in keeping with the requirements of the
UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations.
UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations.
We train in the delivery of MBSR programmes as well as MBI’s (Mindfulness-based Interventions).
The Network requires training with a clear rationale to last for a minimum of 12 months.

Training Levels
CMI training is divided into 3 Levels with apprenticeship and supervision opportunities to support trainees between levels. The first two levels would typically take 12 months. Upon completion of Level 2, Certificates of Competence in delivering 8-week programmes are issued to suitably trained graduates. Level 3 consolidates prior training, deepening personal practice and imparting skills for enhanced facilitation and delivery of mindfulness. Importantly, Level 3 amplifies the underpinnings of the entire curriculum revealing its inter-faceted, holographic nature. This equips the mindfulness teacher to appreciate the learning opportunities present in every moment of delivery.
The training levels are carefully designed to convey practical experience and knowledge of the formal mindfulness practices as well as the subtleties of informal practice, facilitation and inquiry.
