I teach Mindful yoga to adults and Mindfulness in Schools Project to children of all ages. I teach a combination of Hatha and Vinyasa flow yoga with the emphasis on being mindful. I also run one day mindfulness and yoga retreats and yoga and mindfulness holidays in Europe and India. I practice mindfulness in a variety of ways on a daily basis to maintain the integrity of my teaching but also because living and being in every moment of my life has been more fulfilling since practising mindfulness.

I trained with Sarah Beck through the British Wheel of Yoga and with Cathy Mae Kerelse as an Integrated Yoga Therapist through the Clear Mind Institute.
I have also completed an 8 week Mindfulness course and the Mindfulness Training course with CMI.
I teach children mindfulness through the .b Mindfulness in Schools Project for 11-18 year old children and in primary schools the .paws.b Mindfulness in School Project training for 7-11 year old children. I also deliver mindfulness courses for adults. I also work with a colleague on the Youth Yoga Project in which we bring yoga and mindfulness to young people in schools and youth facilities throughout the Wirral.

Mindfulness provides the tools to develop moment to moment awareness, the tools to deal with difficulties that may arise in daily life and the means to live life fully through learning to disengage from auto-pilot. Using the breath consciously is the key to waking the mind from autopilot and the many practices of Mindfulness connect us more deeply to body through the breath. In this way we can live and experience every moment and be awake and alive to our daily life.

What is the importance of professional guidelines such as the UK Network’s Good practice Guidelines to you and your teaching?

As with all professional guidelines following a good practice code ensures that standards are maintained and equalised, and knowledge and skills are kept up to date.

Listed on the UK Network’s Register, I feel the guidelines are a key foundation for all mindfulness teachers.  CMI training places strong importance on the guidelines so that ethics are honoured and respected.
